Leopard gecko lighting?

I have two questions. Is it true that leopard geckos do not need daylight or basking lamps since they r nocturnal? And I wish to purchase a night light to view him at night as well as add heat. After some research I have found three, all different colors. Zilla sells a ultra low photon black and low photon red. Exo-terra sells a purple/blue night lamp. All r rated for night view but I was wonder which is the best for an adult leopard gecko. Thanks :)
