What preparations should I make for optimal health if my adolescent Pitbull Terrier has an unplanned pregnancy?
My beautiful adolescent Pit Bull terrier has managed through my error to become pregnant. She is definitely too young to be having babies, as she is only about 9 months old. I am very upset and concerned for her health as well as that or her babies. Obviously I can't undo what has happened, but have made plans to ensure that this never happens again in the future. I cannot express fully enough how stupid I feel that I have allowed this to happen. I have always been a responsible pet owner and there are no excuses. So, I just need advice as to how to prevent, if possible, any complications that may occur. Is it feasible that nature has made it possible for her to get through this labor and delivery without the death of the mother or babies? It seems kinda odd, if through some defect in nature, a creature could ovulate at such a young age if survival of the parent and/or offspring were not possible. I have listened to so many misguided individuals telling me of nightmare experiences they have heard of which are most likely not based in fact. Please any info from non-haters would be greatly appreciated, as she is due any day now as best I can tell. (It is 62 days from the day she was d.) I've gone to numerous websites without much info from anyone who may have actually successfully been through a similar situation
