Can I remove the fuel vapor canister?

I have removed the smog equipment from my sbc 350 it is pre smog so I dont need it. I am a novice at home mechanic so I need some tips. Can I remove the vapor canister? If so what do i plug? What effects will this have? If I remove will the only vac lines be to brake carb pcv and distributor correct?
