Why do some white people insist on claiming successful Black people as half white?

Every time a Black person is successful, like Obama, Halle Berry etc… we have white folks calling them half white ,when clearly the ‘One Drop Rule’ was created during the time of slavery by white people, which stated that a person with as little as one drop of black blood in their heritage was to be considered black.
